Well, that was quick. [Mar. 10th, 2004|12:59 am]

Well, this seemed like a good idea at the time, but I rapidly lost interest in logging details. This is a good thing, because it means that changing eating habits became second nature.

Anyhow, that means that [info]reductionism isn't going to see any more traffic. I'll mention milestones and such in my regular journal instead.

(Also, should you be happening along out of nowhere hoping that this username wasn't in use, drop [info]mendel a line, I have no interest in squatting the username.)

Breakfast: Bagel with cream cheese and a coffee.

While a fluffy New York style bagel such as I get at work holds me over until lunch even with only margarine on it, a Montreal-style one -- despite being superior in every other regard -- does not. Unfortunately this was at around 11 am, and that led me to skip lunch. Fortunately today is an S-day.

Snack: Date square and a latte at Bridgehead.

I bet I have a date square every weekend. Their date squares make other places' date squares inedible.

Dinner: Fresh pesto tortellini and Italian bread

Snack: Small bag of Cadbury's Mini-Eggs.

I used to eat waaaaay too many Mini-Eggs.

From recollection, since I forgot to post again.

Breakfast: Bagel! Coffee! OJ!

Lunch: Some sort of sandwich, I can't remember exactly what, and chips.

Dinner: Burger with mushrooms and blue cheese at Zak's, with onion rings.

More slack, more recollection.

Breakfast: Bagel coffee OJ. I'm beginning to see a pattern.

Lunch: Bratwurst in a bun with fries.

I could not resist sausage when I tried to eat vegetarian, so I certainly won't resist sausage in moderation now. It was a good brat, too, especially considering that it came from the cafeteria.

They season the fries here in such a way that I can only eat about half of what they give me before it overwhelms, which is what I did.

Dinner: Falafel pita sandwich, garlic roast potatoes, rice-based tabouleh.

[info]nyxie lurves me and cooks me nummy dinners. Overate a little bit but just barely; usually I'd have cleaned the plate regardless so it's an incremental improvement.

Today's gym entry [Feb. 25th, 2004|06:19 pm]

More slack, more being unable to backdate.

Gym: 15 minutes treadmill, 25 minutes elliptical trainer @ 80% MHR.

I don't like the treadmill very much, because I feel like I'm plodding along and that the
whole room stops what they're doing on every step. Part of this is needing new shoes, I'm sure, but mostly it's just not my thing. Do I ever feel it in the legs afterwards though.

I think I'll alternate between elliptical trainer, stair-stepper, bike and rower for now, and only bring the treadmill in later.

Oops, I got a case of the slack. Going from memory here (it's really the 27th when I'm writing this). I'd backdate, but I can't backdate posting to a shared journal.

Breakfast: Bagel, coffee, OJ.

They're out of raisin bagels. Multigrain it is, then! It's ok.

Lunch:6" turkey sub on whole wheat, chips, diet Coke.

The subs are small enough that sub plus veggies = hungry, so chips hold me over better.

Dinner:Leftover bean salad thingie on brown rice.

It does improve with rice.

Mostly an unremarkable food-day.

I suck. Packed my gym bag this morning and left it at home. After stomach trouble last night it's probably for the best, so I'll wait until tomorrow, and aim for Wed-Fri-Sun then back into Tue-Thur-S__.

Today's food entry [Feb. 24th, 2004|12:47 pm]

Breakfast: Bowl of oatmeal, coffee, bottle of OJ.

Managed to get up early enough to eat oatmeal at home this morning. Wasn't hungry by lunch.

Lunch: Chicken caesar salad, yogurt, diet Coke.

Lines were huge in the cafeteria today so I went with takeout packaging instead of fresh. The salad was great -- baby greens and chicken and onions and pepper in a slightly-too-thick Caesar dressing. The yogurt was probably unnecessary but I'd originally grabbed only a sandwich, and my stomach was acting up a bit yesterday so I didn't want to stretch things too far to dinner.

Dinner: Pancakes with fruit jam.

It's Pancake Tuesday, y'know. [info]nyxie convinced me to try jam on pancakes instead of syrup, and it's the nummiest thing evar, and since we use Pancake Syrup instead of Maple Syrup, it's certainly not worse for me.

Breakfast: Cinnamon-raisin bagel with margarine, bottle of orange juice, large coffee.

I can't bring myself to do coffee without 2% and sugar yet; unmilked coffee just doesn't taste right to me. (I don't associate "coffee" with "watery" like I do tea.) Meant to switch from raisin to multigrain bagels, but they were out this morning.

Lunch: Tuna sammich on multigrain, with veggies and cheese. Carrot and celery sticks and cottage cheese. Diet Coke.

Observed: Man, does cottage cheese rock. I forget this every few months. Something in the back of my head is telling me that Diet Coke is cheating, but I need my caffeine, and there's less sugar in that Diet Coke than in a coffee, so meh.

Afternoon: Diet Coke around 3pm, coffee after work.

Crashed hard this aft, not enough sleep. One or both of those might've been a bad idea, though.

Dinner: Leftover Hamburger Helper made with soymeat.

Something between lunch and after-dinner did not make my stomach happy. I'm better now, but bleh. I'm leaning towards diet coke on a too-empty stomach plus soyburger helper. Was really hungry after work, so I probably ate too fast too.

Gym: 45 minutes at target heart rate of 154 bpm on elliptical trainer. Session #2 this week.

My feet are still giving me a bit of trouble; I need to do things that are not the elliptical trainer once in a while, and I need to look into new shoes. A bit tingly at 30 minutes, but a two-minute break followed by the subsequent 15 minutes fixed that.

Brought the mp3 player in for the first time today. Need new headphones, otherwise it made things go a lot faster.
